MAP Atelier

ATELIER

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Atelier fosters discussion about literary forms by gathering an international cohort of authors, of various ages and viewpoints. We have thus far welcomed early- and mid- career prose writers; in the future we may include other writing forms.

The Atelier is a close-reading workshop. Each participant gives a presentation on a published text that has been influential to them; this is followed by a group discussion. In June and October, 2025, the Ateliers, facilitated by Sylvia Brownrigg and Claire Messud, focused on fiction writers. In June, 2026, the Atelier will welcome memoir writers, and will be facilitated by Sylvia Brownrigg and James Wood. All participants and staff are invited to attend.

Writers also give readings from their own work to the MAP community, enabling Atelier participants to know one another as artists.
